1. Mobile Literacy

The idea is to have an SMS run educational system for students who cannot physically attend class.


  • How much money does the average individual have to pay for SMS education
  • How many SMS texts do we have to transfer information?
  • What topics should be discussed?
  • Should these be curriculum based. Should these be more vocational topics?

In our professor-formed group, Shivanku, Rita, Ariana, and I  tried to find some common ground in our different interests. Collectively, we are interested in the empowerment of the local community.

Often times, we see organizations enter a community and provide products whose maintenance is dependent upon a volunteer network, leaving the targeted community without income and a dependence on the organization. What happens when that organization leaves, when the funding for the product is gone? What is left for the community?
